Crown & Bridge in Park Slope
Missing teeth not only destroy a smile, they have the potential to harm your health, too. Having one or more missing teeth can compromise your ability to enjoy a nutritious diet, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The chances of having gum disease increase if you have missing teeth; gum disease has been linked to a number of bodily ailments including high blood pressure, stroke, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and even low birth weight in newborns. Missing teeth can cause your other teeth to shift, possibly leading to a bad bite and temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ.
The importance of filling in the gaps of missing teeth cannot be understated.
Tooth Replacement Option
One excellent option for tooth replacement is a crown and bridge. Dr. Sapienza and his staff at The Dental Spa of New York in Park Slope work with talented ceramists in a dental lab who hand make crown and bridgework to blend seamlessly with existing dentition. A bridge is a row of prosthetic (false) teeth attached to two abutment crowns, which are cemented to the two teeth on either side of a smile’s gap. Made of dental porcelain over metal, or a strong nonmetal material such as zirconia, dental bridges are stronger and more lifelike than ever.
Dental Crown & Bridge Procedure
To create a crown and bridge that fits perfectly, we will prepare the teeth that will have crowns and then take an impression of your teeth to form a model that our lab will use to create your bridge. While your permanent crown and bridgework are fabricated, you’ll wear a temporary that we make at The Dental Spa of New York. When your permanent prosthesis is ready, you’ll return to our office to have the bridge fitted and bonded into place.
If you have missing teeth, let Dr. Sapienza, his trusted lab, and the gentle team at The Dental Spa of New York® restore your smile with lifelike crown and bridgework.
